The University of Northampton gained university status in 2005. It has two campuses in the town of Northampton including the brand new Waterside Campus.
The University focuses on applied subjects and has strong links with employers and offers sandwich courses with a year out in industry. It is also renowned for its focus on social enterprise and entrepreneurship and is also one of the few universities currently offering two year degrees.
The University offers Degree Apprenticeships sponsored by Rolls Royce focused on the specialist field of Non-destructive Technologies and lead to a BEng (Hons) degree in Non-Destructive Technologies. The work-based aspect of the apprenticeship is based at a Rolls Royce site e.g. in Bristol or Derby and the academic aspects will be delivered in focused blocks at Northampton (where meals and accommodation costs will be covered by Rolls Royce).
