  • Profile

The University of Buckingham is the UK’s oldest private university (originally founded in 1973). Although it is a private university (receiving no state subsidies) it is established as a not-for-profit charity and so, like other universities, it reinvests any profit into its research and teaching.

The university focuses on a broad academic curriculum, covering: Law, Humanities, Arts and Languages, Business, Science and Medicine. The university has its own medical school which initially focused on providing postgraduate teaching and research qualifications including MD (doctor of Medicine) but also started taking undergraduate medical students in 2015.

The university also offers two-year degrees (as opposed to the norm of three-year degrees across the sector).
