The University of Bath is located in the city of Bath (Somerset). Its main campus is modern and purpose-built but overlooks the beautiful Roman spa city. Whilst not a member of the prestigious Russell Group of research intensive universities, Bath is nonetheless highly research intensive and a member of the “Great Western 4 University Alliance” teaming up with its other three members Cardiff, Bristol and Exeter (all of which are in the Russell Group) to deliver globally competitive research.
Bath University was established in 1885 as the “Merchant Venturers Technical College” and gained university status in 1971.
The University is particularly strong reputation in Engineering (notably electronic, electrical and mechanical), but it has offers a broad range of subjects across engineering, science, humanities and management. It places a strong focus on vocational education and offers a range of options for “sandwich years” or industry placements.
