    Aberdeen University is perfect if you like the idea of an ancient Scottish institution with heaps of history and a strong academic reputation.

    It a consists of the ancient King’s College (founded in 1495) and Marishal College (founded in 1593).

    The two colleges merged in 1860 to form Aberdeen University.

    The University is a highly regarded research-intensive university which has produced 5 Nobel prize winners.

    It is characterised by its historic buildings (although it is also complemented by a number of modern purpose-built buildings).
