    School of Oriental and African Studies, or SOAS for short, is a part of the University of London.

    It was founded in 1916 and, as its name suggests it is focused on subjects relation to Africa and Asia (as well as the Middle East). It covers areas of: arts, humanities, languages, linguistics, culture, social science and law. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, however it is research intensive and a high proportion of its students are over 21.

    Given its focus on global issues, SOAS has been a popular choice for political leaders and diplomats.
