Based in Lincoln, in the north east of England, Bishop Grosseteste was established as a teacher training college in 1682 and became a University in 2012. With fewer than 2500 students Bishop Grosseteste is small university based on a single campus near the historic area of the city (near the Cathedral, the castle and the old Roman city).

The university retains a strong focus on teacher-training and other education-related provision including psychology, counselling and health and social care.
